AUDITECO GES was retained by a leading international construction company to provide integrated technical remediation design and site remediation supervision at an undeveloped site located in Bucharest, Romania.

The site was intended for development as a commercial compound and uncertainties pertained to the site’s historical background; reportedly, uncontrolled disposal of household waste and construction debris had occurred at the site in the late 20th century, and the ground was subsequently levelled out. Intrusive environmental investigations conducted by AUDITECO GES at the site revealed the existence of thick a heterogeneous matrix of unsorted waste with high organic content. AUDITECO GES used comprehensive field data on soil quality to map affected areas and depth and prepare a site clean-up design in coordination with extensive excavation works for the foreseen site development.

Our contribution to the site investigation and clean-up works extended over more than six months. The clean-up process consisted of gradual sampling of excavated contaminated material to assess disposal solutions and document disposal of material to permitted off-site treatment or disposal facilities. Complete removal of contaminated material was performed in all affected areas of the site. Permanent assistance in the relationship with local environmental authorities was provided to the Client by AUDITECO GES

Project deliverables included the preparation of interim reports and a comprehensive final report to describe achieved site clean-up objectives.
