AUDITECO was retained by ILR Logistica Romania, a European provider of logistics services, to prepare the application documents for the issuance of a Water Management Permit, as part of the permitting procedure for the construction of a multimodal freight terminal at the river Danube, within the port of Giurgiu, Romania. The transport terminal was designed as an important national and regional connection of naval, railway and road transport routes.
The main feature of the project was the extension of the river quay and the construction of a logistics hall with an indoor loading berth, railway and road connections. Particular challenges for the implementation of the project were associated with existing on-site structures to be demolished; the site was partly occupied by a decommissioned railway connection bridge formerly part of the Giurgiu-Ruse (Bulgaria) ferry-boat link until mid-20th century.
